Which is Better; Native’s Moisturizing Shampoo vs. Maui Moisture’s Heal and Hydrate Shampoo

First, what is shampoo?

While commonly used, many people don’t know the true basis of what shampoo actually does. Many people assume it’s a universal product just to clean your hair, but there's much more science behind that. Starting from the basis, it's packed full of ingredients including natural oils, preservatives and other additives. It’s a product used not only to cleanse your hair of dirt and grime, but it's also used to prevent scalp inflammation as well as lengthening the life of healthy hair.

Shampoo is used in many parts of the world meaning it reaches many different hair types, making it difficult to make it a universal product, as one ingredient could benefit straight hair, but cause frizziness to coils or waves. Commonly, certain ingredients are added to fit certain categories and titles it claims to have; “Conditioning”, “Moisturizing”, “Clarifying”, but with this comes issues. Many shampoos have unlisted sulfates and/or acidic materials to lower the cost of production. These ingredients will damage or build up over time, harming the hair, and in some cases, ultimately causing hair loss and other medical concerns. Knowing products, ingredients, and companies will benefit your strands and potentially your health.

All About Native Shampoo:

Native, created in 2015 by Moiz Ali, started as a small brand, primarily focusing on antiperspirants. The brand quickly grew from deodorants, to haircare, to even as far as body lotions and face creams. The brand was built on the idea of making cleaner and safer products for people with more natural ingredients.

All About Maui Moisture:

Maui Moisture was built and branded in January of 2017. It struck the world with its beautifully colored bottles, and healthy ingredients, originally stated they came from Hawaii. This brand is known for its attention to detail with hair.

While both of these products are known to have gone viral, there's obvious pros and cons within each. Ranging from price, to the true quality of each, which is better?

Price:

In stores such as Target, Walmart, Walgreens and other generic beauty sections, Native ranges typically around 10-12 dollars. Native’s bottles of shampoo contain 16.5 fluid ounces of product, despite the treatments they include. On the other hand, Maui Moisture ranges a similar price, ranging from 8-13 dollars, however they have much smaller bottle sizes. At Safeway, with a bottle sitting at only 13 fluid ounces, it's priced at $10.99.

To I and others, the price of a product is what makes the sale. For most individuals, buying a bigger bottle with more product for a lower price is more justifiable, as it lasts much longer and realistically will save you more money over time. With this, Native’s Moisturizing shampoo is the obvious choice. It contains more product, for a little less of the cost of Maui Moisture’s Heal and Hydrate.

Real Effects

While both of these products have beautiful packaging, their true effects leave a lot of not-so-beautiful effects behind. While using Native’s Moisturizing Shampoo, the application was wonderful; the shampoo went on smoothly, smelled amazing and felt soothing and cleansing to my scalp. After allowing my hair to dry, it remained tame, and unlike other shampoos, the scent stayed in my hair hours later. As the day went on, my hair remained fresh and clean.

Maui’s Moisture Heal and Hydrate on the other hand, while smelling great, didn't work as described. The application was usual, smelling decent, bubbling like a typical shampoo would, however immediately after washing it out, my hair felt stripped of its natural oils. After drying, my hair was extremely frizzy and dry. The smell faded immediately after drying, and throughout the day, it got worse. It quickly began to gain oils and grime, making my hair appear dirty and unwashed,

Between the two, Native’s Moisturizing is an obvious choice within this comparison. Maui Moisture has left long term effects within my hair, small individual hairs had begun to fall out as well as extreme dryness. After returning to Native’s Moisturizing Shampoo, it ultimately saved my hair! It's no doubt that within this competition, Maui Moisture was at a loss.

Ingredients

Maui Moisture as a whole brand, loves to promote their natural vegan ingredients, thoughtfully sourced straight from the islands of Hawaii. Made here in the United States, they created Maui Moisture through cruelty-free science, and safe for color treated hair. Unfortunately they use fragrances, and common fragrance is known to cause skin irritations and potentially allergic reactions.

Native as an entire company has been noted and promoted to be extremely sustainable. They use their packaging in a helpful way, reading out each individual ingredient, each of which are supposed to work naturally with the body, and its purpose within the product. As Maui Moisture, they also are claimed to be cruelty-free and do not contain products deprived from animals. However with every brand, there's room to improve, Native also includes fragrance oils as well as preservatives to increase the shelf life of the shampoo, which can damage certain hair types.

Here, Maui Moisture is the winner! They have healthy ingredients and minimal preservatives, making their products even more natural and encouraging of true body harmony, making the shampoo sustainable and easy on the environment as it is created from  natural resources.

Conclusion

After all, Maui Moisture has not been beneficial to my hair, making Native’s Moisturizing Shampoo a savior. From the cost, the real effects of the product, to the claims made, all of them have been proven to be just to my hair, repairing damage from the Heal and Hydrate shampoo.

Duncan You Find Yourselves in a Tavern: Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) and tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) in general have seen a huge burst of popularity in recent years. As a part of this, many people have taken to playing their games in front of a camera and inviting audiences on the internet to watch and enjoy the tailor-made stories within.
