Is Online Learning as Effective as In-Person Learning?

McKayla Talavera Montoya English 102 8 July 2025 Is Online Learning as Effective as In-Person Learning? Growing up we’ve all been so used to being taught in school or as it says in my title “in-person”. Being taught face to face surrounded by tons of staff and students is something most of us have experienced, it is known to be the most common teaching method to this day. But around 2020, once covid hit is when things started to change drastically. Dew to the pandemic people had to stay home so that meant kids weren’t allowed to go to their schools and had to learn at home through zoom. I experienced this through 6 th & 7 th grade which was very unfortunate because the main thing I’ve always enjoyed about school was being able to see my friends and teachers and it was taken away from me. Having to be responsible for logging in for each class at a certain time, making sure my Wi-Fi worked because if not I would be missing some important things talked about during the sh...

Disney Worl vs. Universal Studious Orlando

McKayla Talavera Montoya English 102 15 July 2025 Disney World vs. Universal studious Orlando Orlando Florida’s top two theme parks are Disney World and Universal Studios, Lets talk about the two. Both theme parks are family friendly, for all ages but might attract different vibes. I have gone to both at different ages so I can agree on those sayings. Disney world being placed as the number one theme park in Orlando Florid already say’s a lot for itself. Something you would want to know about Disney World before going is knowing a bit about the four parks they have for you to choose from. The parks they have are Disney’s Hollywood Studious, Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Magic Kingdom Park, and EPCOT. Hollywood Studious is one out of the two parks I have went to, and I really enjoyed it, it is filled with so much fun rides for not only teenagers but for kids as well. It includes Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land. I would say Hollywood studios has some of the more intens...

Lizbeth Leyva Professor Montoya English 102 7/30/2025 We Overuse the Term ‘Trauma’ and its Harming Real Conversations About Mental Health               Due to the many social media platforms and many opinionated voices all over the internet that have a tremendous influence on many, the term ‘trauma’ has become widely used to describe a wide range of challenging life experiences. While it is a positive thing for everyone to be aware of mental health being a valuable topic, it can lead to many mistaking the term and using it for common stressors as traumatic events. Not every emotionally difficult moment in our lives means it’s trauma. Life changes such as a new school, the end of a relationship, or receiving constructive criticism are all definitely stressful to go through but they are part of our development as humans going through life. So, when we label these experiences as trauma or worse, we risk the term...

Does Helicopter Parenting Negatively Affect a Child's Mental Health?

Lizbeth Leyva Professor Montoya English 102 7/6/2025 Does helicopter parenting negatively affect a child’s mental health?             Studies have discovered that parents who are overly involved with their children may cause the children to struggle with anxiety and decision making more than their peers. As this becomes more of a popular way to care for your child, a question that pops up for many is, does helicopter parenting negatively affect a child’s mental health, or can it actually help protect children in this complex world? “Helicopter parenting” is a term that is used to describe a parenting style of childcare, in which the parent(s) are excessively involved in the lives of their children in an overbearing type of way, and are often closely monitoring their activities and stepping in to solve their problems. While many argue that this level of care provides security, safety, and support, others warn that it...
